Suicidality in Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders: A Scoping Review

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) patients may encounter substantial health challenges leading to increased mental health risk and suicidality. This review aimed to synthesize the existing literature on suicidality among individuals with EDS and HSD, including suicidal ideation and suicide attempts, and to examine how suicidality has been measured and reported. We followed a scoping review methodology, guided by the Arksey & O’Malley guidelines, to conduct a comprehensive search across databases, including PubMed (MEDLINE), CINAHL, Scopus, PsycINFO, Cochrane Central, Embase, and Google Scholar.
