The effects of Leader Behavior Types Perceived by Chinese University Volleyball Players on Sports Confidence and Performance of Competition
Le résumé fourni par la source
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among leadership behavior types perceived by Chinese university volleyball players, sport confidence, and performance ability. A total of 265 valid questionnaires were collected and analyzed using SPSS Statistics 29.0. The results showed that training and instruction behavior, positive reward behavior, and social support behavior had significant positive effects on several subfactors of sport confidence, whereas autocratic behavior did not have a significant effect on sport confidence. Leadership behavior types also had significant effects on performance ability, particularly performance maturity. In addition, sport confidence had significant effects on performance success and performance maturity. Specifically, ability demonstration, coach leadership, and physical and mental preparation significantly influenced both performance success and performance maturity, whereas social support significantly influenced performance maturity only. These findings suggest that appropriate coaching behaviors and athletes’ sport confidence are significantly associated with performance among Chinese university volleyball players.
