Proceedings of the 2025 workshop on walleye pollock biology and ecology

In January 2025 we convened a scientific workshop on Alaska pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus; hereafter pollock) at NOAA’s Alaska Fisheries Science Center in Seattle, WA. The workshop covered pollock of all life history stages in all large marine ecosystems in Alaska, with a particular focus on biology and ecology. The workshop was divided into five themes: early life history biology and ecology, feeding ecology, population monitoring, predation and food webs, and climate and ecosystem connections. The goals were to (1) synthesize ongoing research on pollock, build new collaborations and strengthen existing ones among participants, and highlight topics which need more attention or could be revisited with new data or tools; and (2) build conceptual models of recruitment and growth in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska.
