AN ASSESSMENT OF THE PROCESS AND TRAINING METHODS USED FOR FARM AND NON-FARM SECTORS ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING PROGRAMMES IN KVK AND RUDSETI

Abstract: Numerous organizations worldwide are involved in conducting entrepreneurship training programmes. The success of such training programmes to a greater extent depends on the training methodology used. An assessment was made to determine the process and methodology used in conducting farm and non-farm entrepreneurship training programmes. Krishi Vigyan KendraShikohpur was purposively selected and RUDSETI Ghaziabad for their success in conducting entrepreneurship training programmes. Thirty farm and non-farm entrepreneurs were randomly selected from both KVK and RUDSETI making a total sample size of 120 farm and non-farm entrepreneurs. A semi-structured questionnaire was used to solicit information from the respondents. Data was analyzed using SPSS and descriptive statistics. Results show that there were a fixed procedure and criteria used in the selection of trainees for entrepreneurship training in both farm and non-farm sectors.Majority (80.0%) of the trainers in RUDSETI reported that the training needs of entrepreneurs were identified through group discussions whereas, in KVK, 66.70per cent of the trainers reported that training needs were identified through interviews. Garrett ranking showed that experiential learning (67.9%) and lecture (63.0 %) were mostly used in the non-farm entrepreneurship training programme, whereas, Garrett ranking for farm sectors revealed that lecture (90.2%) and interface with successful entrepreneurs (81.8%) were the most training methodologies used. T-test for independent samples showed that there was no significantdifference in training methodologies used in farm and non-farm entrepreneurship training.
