Geomagnetic and lithological controls on paleomagnetic secular variations in Holocene sediments from the Amundsen Sea, West Antarctica

This dataset contains Holocene paleomagnetic data from three sediment cores (NBP19-02 KC15, NBP19-02 KC19, NBP20-02 KC33) collected from offshore Thwaites Glacier in the Amundsen Sea, West Antarctica. Sediment cores used in this study were recovered during 2019 and 2020 (cruises NBP19-02 and NBP20-02), aboard the RV/IB Nathaniel B. Palmer in the Amundsen Sea. This dataset contains the following files: Core metadata Foraminifera radiocarbon ages Acid insoluble organic matter (AIOM) ages Paleomagnetic data (NBP19-02 KC15, NBP19-02 KC19 and NBP20-02 KC33): Columns are defined as follows: Depth (cm): Core depth in cm Common stratigraphic depth (cm): Correlated depth (in reference to NBP19-02 KC15) in cm Age (cal. yrs BP): Calibrated radiocarbon age in years before present, assigned to core depths based on stratigraphic correlation Magnetic susceptibiliy: Bulk magnetic susceptibility Inclination (°): Inclination values from PCA results (UPmag; Xuan & Channell, 2009) using 10-65 mT demagnetization range Decliantion (°): Decliantion values from PCA results (UPmag; Xuan & Channell, 2009) using 10-65 mT demagnetization range MAD (°): Maximum angular deviation values from PCA results (UPmag; Xuan & Channell, 2009) using 10-65 mT demagnetization range kARM/k: Ratio of kARM to magnetic susceptibility RPI (10-65 mT): Relative paleointensity calculated via the UPmag slope fit method, using 10-65 mT demagnetization range (Xuan & Channell, 2009)
