One of the most important applications of sports biomechanics is the study of motor actions. The analysis of motor actions examines the mechanical causes of movement and the characteristics of movement patterns under different conditions, which constitute the primary focus of this scientific field. Technological advances have enabled comprehensive analyses of these actions, providing highly precise insights into how movements occur and the structures involved in their execution. From a biomechanical perspective, in the long jump, several authors consider the takeoff phase, characterized by the period of interaction with the takeoff board, as the most critical phase for achieving optimal performance. However, its close relationship with the approach run is also recognized, as the approach phase must provide the speed and positioning required for effective jump execution. Given the importance of this phase in long jump performance, this study aimed to characterize the takeoff phase by analyzing biomechanical indicators obtained through observation and measurement methods. From a biomechanical perspective, the takeoff phase, characterized by interaction with the takeoff board, represents a decisive phase in achieving an effective long jump, although it remains closely dependent on the approach run, which must provide optimal horizontal velocity and body positioning. This study employed theoretical and empirical methods. The contribution of this research lies in identifying and characterizing kinematic biomechanical indicators that influence the preparation of school-level athletes in the long jump. These findings enable comparisons with technical performance models to implement corrective strategies that improve the efficiency, rationality, and effectiveness of technical execution during motor actions.
