This course continues to build a solid foundation of the basics of treatment planning directly related to clinical cases. The course enhances and develops diagnostic and prognostic skills derived from patient information, medical and dental histories, clinical and radiographic examination, and diagnostic aids. Emphasis on problem solving and inclusion of a multidisciplinary approach to treatment planning will be introduced. Evidence-based dentistry will be enhanced and applied to all aspects of treatment solutions and problem solving. Clinical cases will be developed into treatment plans utilizing increased understanding of all treatment phases, ultimately building a clinical skill set which will enable the students to create ideal and alternate appointment plans critical for proper clinical case development. In addition, an introduction of ethical considerations in plan development will be emphasized. Concepts on treatment planning for the special needs patient will be discussed.
