Le résumé fourni par la source
The SABRE experiment aims to perform a model-independent search for dark matter using arrays of ultra–low-background NaI(Tl) crystals. SABRE will be a double-site experiment, consisting of two separate detectors located in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The SABRE North detector will be installed underground at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) in the Northern Hemisphere, while SABRE South will be deployed at the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory (SUPL) in the Southern Hemisphere. Based on the results of many years of R&D on NaI powder purification, SABRE North is progressing toward a full-scale detector design featuring entirely passive shielding and an array of 9 ultra-high-radiopurity NaI(Tl) detectors 5 kg each, shielded with copper and polyethylene. We provide an overview of NaI purification, predictions for the achievable radiopurity, and an update on the current status of SABRE North’s installation at LNGS.
