Survey Dataset on Theory of Planned Behaviour Constructs and Distracted-Driving Behaviours Among Drivers in Pakistan

This dataset contains cross-sectional questionnaire responses from 309 drivers recruited in Islamabad and Abbottabad, Pakistan, and was developed to examine psychological and behavioural factors associated with distracted driving. The questionnaire includes six constructs derived from the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB): attitude (ATT), friends’ norms (FN), family norms (FAMN), boss/supervisor norms (BN), perceived behavioural control (PBC), and behavioural intention (INT). Each construct was assessed across six distracted-driving behaviours: answering phone calls, messaging, using mobile applications, using navigation, talking with passengers, and drinking water while driving. The dataset also includes demographic and driving characteristics, self-reported distracted-driving behaviour, recent engagement in distracted-driving activities during the previous seven days, and crash involvement. Following data screening, 309 respondents were retained from 338 completed questionnaires; 263 respondents provided complete data across the 36 TPB indicators used in the latent-variable analyses, whereas construct-level composite analyses retained between 302 and 308 observations. The dataset can support research on questionnaire validation, confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modelling, multitrait–multimethod modelling, local dependence, behaviour-specific covariance, normative influences, and relationships between psychological determinants and distracted-driving behaviour. An anonymised dataset, questionnaire/codebook, and variable definitions can facilitate replication, methodological comparison, and secondary analysis of distracted-driving behaviour.
