Infrared thermographic dataset of regional body surface temperatures in broiler chickens

This dataset contains archived infrared thermographic measurements of broiler chickens evaluated during a natural diurnal thermal cycle. The Excel workbook includes raw regional body-surface temperature measurements organized by experimental box and measurement time, as well as a worksheet containing summarized mean infrared body temperatures and corresponding ambient air temperatures. Regional measurements include featherless and feather-covered body areas and were used for the secondary methodological analysis of spatial thermal responses and regional thermal heterogeneity in broilers. The dataset supports the analyses reported in the study “Loss of Regional Thermal Heterogeneity Reveals Thermoregulatory Strain in Heat-Exposed Broilers.” Temperatures are expressed in degrees Celsius (°C).
