Le résumé fourni par la source
Aerosols reaching the stratosphere from both nuclear war and volcanic eruptions can block incoming solar radiation, cool the planet, reduce light for photosynthesis, and in turn reduce food production, leading to regional and widespread famine. Physical and historical records of climate and human impacts after volcanic cooling can be used to contextualize expected impacts of nuclear winter. Similarly, Earth system models used to study climate effects of volcanic eruptions have been adapted for nuclear winter studies. The Nordic region, with its rich history of climate recordkeeping, can illuminate the linkages between historical and potential future global cooling events. For the Nordic mainland, the geographic location leads to disproportionally larger impacts than the global average for cooling and agricultural reduction under a range of nuclear winter scenarios, as is seen in the historical record after large volcanic eruptions.
