Résumé fourni par la source

Dataset supporting the study “Comparative Assessment of Multidimensional Health Performance Across Indian States and Union Territories Using an NFHS-Based Composite Health Index: NFHS-5 and NFHS-6.” This dataset contains the State/Union Territory-level data and derived results used to construct and compare a composite Overall Health Index (OHI) using indicators from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5, 2019–21) and NFHS-6 (2023–24). Following assessment of 101 NFHS indicators, 88 eligible indicators with a clearly defined directional relationship with health performance were included in the composite analysis across eight domains: (1) population, household and social determinants; (2) reproductive health, fertility and family planning; (3) maternal health and continuum of care; (4) child immunization and preventive care; (5) child morbidity, feeding and nutrition; (6) adult nutrition, diabetes and hypertension; (7) women’s empowerment, menstrual health and safety; and (8) tobacco and alcohol risk. Indicators were normalized separately within Larger States, Smaller States and Union Territories for each NFHS round using min–max normalization on a 0–100 scale. Domain scores were calculated from the mean of eligible normalized indicators, and the Overall Health Index was derived from the domain scores. The dataset includes the indicator-level data, normalized scores, domain scores, OHI values, ranks and changes between NFHS-5 and NFHS-6 used in the analysis. This dataset is intended to support transparency, reproducibility and further analysis of multidimensional health performance across Indian States and Union Territories.
