Cultivation of vegetables in a hydroponic system associated with the use of salicylic acid has been a viable alternative in mitigating salt stress. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of foliar application of salicylic acid on okra cv. Canindé in a hydroponic system with brackish water. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse using a Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) hydroponic system in Pombal, Paraíba, Brazil, adopting a completely randomized design in a split-plot arrangement. The main plots consisted of four levels of electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution (ECns: 3.0, 5.0, 7.0, and 9.0 dS m-1), while the subplots consisted of four concentrations of salicylic acid (SA: 0, 1.2, 2.4, and 3.6 mM), with four replicates and two plants per plot. Electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution above 3.0 dS m-¹ compromised the physiological and production performance of okra cv. Canindé in hydroponic cultivation, reducing maximum and initial fluorescence, electron transport rate, biomass accumulation, root volume, as well as the number, mass, and size of fruits per plant. Application of salicylic acid at concentrations between 1.6 and 2.4 mM mitigates the effects of salt stress on post-harvest quality attributes, resulting in increases in soluble solids content, titratable acidity, and ascorbic acid in okra fruits under nutrient solution salinity levels of up to 9.0 dS m⁻¹.
