Résumé fourni par la source

Surp Pırgiç Hospital was founded in Istanbul in 1834 with the contributions of Artin Bezcian. Initially managed by admirals, the hospital gained an institutional identity through administrative arrangements and the development of financial resources. Furthermore, the hospital not only met the healthcare needs of the Armenian community but also acquired symbolic significance for Turkish Armenians, symbolizing national solidarity.Surp Pırgiç Hospital was transformed into an independent, tax-paying legal entity after the proclamation of the Republic. Initially financed by donations from the Armenian community, the hospital also benefited from state resources starting in 1942. While initially treating only Armenians from Istanbul, Surp Pırgiç Hospital gradually became a center of attraction for Armenians living in Anatolia as well. Since a large portion of its patient population consisted of elderly individuals, the hospital focused more on long-term care and rehabilitation services rather than expensive medical interventions. The aim of this study is to provide a panoramic overview of Surp Pırgiç Hospital (1924-1949). In other words, it seeks to trace the institutional development of the hospital by extending Arsen Yarman's monograph, which covers the period up to 1924, through to 1948. The study, which consists of an introduction and two chapters, focuses on the administrative and financial composition of the hospital in the first chapter, and on the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients, treatment methods, patient mobility, and workload in the outpatient clinics in the second chapter. The hospital's periodic and decadal reports were used in the research. Our research methodology is based on simple statistical methods and descriptive text analysis.
