Rise of Greenpreneurship; Integrating Sustainability and Profitability in Post-Carbon Markets

Greenpreneurship, the fusion of environmental sustainability and entrepreneurial innovation, has emerged as a critical driver of business survival and national development in the post-carbon global economy. Between 2010 and 2025, the concept has matured globally, influencing industries, policies, and business models across both developed and developing nations. In Nigeria, where environmental challenges such as deforestation, oil-related pollution, and inadequate waste management persist, greenpreneurship represents both a necessity and an opportunity for economic growth. This seminar paper explores the rise of greenpreneurship with a focus on Nigeria, drawing global comparisons. Using a descriptive and comparative research approach, the study provides a conceptual review, theoretical frameworks, and empirical evidence from Nigeria and other economies. Case studies of Nigerian SMEs engaged in renewable energy, recycling, sustainable agriculture, and eco-tourism are presented. The study concludes that while challenges such as limited financing, weak policy frameworks, and infrastructural bottlenecks exist, the integration of sustainability with profitability offers Nigerian entrepreneurs a competitive advantage in post-carbon markets. Recommendations for policy, education, financing, and capacity-building are provided.
