Résumé fourni par la source

Menopause is a natural stage in a woman’s life associated with the gradual decline of ovarian follicular activity and the permanent cessation of menstruation at the end of the reproductive period. The present study aimed to assess the Knowledge and Practice regarding Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercises among Menopausal Women and to determine the effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching. A Quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design was adopted. A total of 60 Menopausal Women aged 45-55 years residing in selected areas of District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, were selected by non-probability purposive sampling. Data was collected using a self-structured Knowledge questionnaire and checklist to assess Practice. The Pre test mean Knowledge score was 7.07 ± 1.639 in the experimental group and 7.67 ± 1.647 in the control group. Whereas in case of Pre test mean Practice score was 1.032.414 in experimental group and 1.802.565 in control group. After the intervention, the Post test mean Knowledge score increased to 19.101.971 in the experimental group, while the control group had 7.231.888. Similarly, the Post test mean Practice score increased to 15.033.057 in experimental group, while the control group had 1.872.529. The Paired t-test value of Knowledge (t value=22.056) and Practice (t value=51.618) in experimental group was found highly significant at p <0.001 level, indicating Effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching. Age at Menopause showed a statistically significant association with Post test Knowledge scores in the experimental group (χ² = 8.708, df = 2, p = 0.013), while no significant association was observed in the control group. Similarly in Practice, the findings revealed that there was no statistically significant association between Post test Practice scores with their selected socio-demographic variables. The findings indicate that Video Assisted Teaching was Effective in improving Knowledge and Practice regarding Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercises among Menopausal Women.
