Defining and predicting disease progression in myeloproliferative neoplasms: a proposed biomarker-driven approach
Résumé fourni par la source
The development of precision medicine approaches in oncology has revolutionized clinical practice. Although definitions of precision medicine may vary, it is reasonably defined as the use of biomarkers to select a treatment approach for a patient to optimize the chance of response [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]. Key examples that define current standard practice include the use of genomics to guide therapy, such as FLT3 inhibitors in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) with FLT3-ITD, and the use of the Oncotype Dx assay to assess the relative risk and benefit of chemotherapy in invasive Breast Cancer [ 4 , 5 ]. The number of such precision approaches in oncology continues to rapidly expand [ 1 ].
