Study of the combined effect of CTAB functionalized gold nanorods and radiation on tumor cell metabolism via MRS technique
Résumé fourni par la source
Abstract Gold nanorods (AuNRs) are promising nanomaterials for theragnostic applications due to their unique optical and physicochemical properties, making them suitable for biomedical imaging and drug delivery. The presence of a radiopharmaceutical bound to AuNRs may induce Auger electron emission during radioactive decay, enhancing localized energy deposition and therapeutic effects. In this study, CTAB-stabilized AuNRs were synthesized and characterized. AuNRs impact on the metabolism of a glioblastoma cell line (T98G) was investigated in combination with ionizing radiation (20 Gy, Cs-137). A non-invasive Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) approach was used to analyze intact cells at different time points after treatment. 1 H 1D and 2D COSY spectra acquired at 600 MHz revealed variations in glutathione (GSH) and mobile lipid (ML) signals, associated with oxidative stress response and cell viability. Preliminary results suggest a potential synergistic effect between AuNRs and ionizing radiation.
