Promoting a culture of peace and human rights education are complex and priority educational processes in current education systems, especially in contexts of inequality and social transformation. This essay aims to analyze the potential of active learning methodologies in developing critical, responsible citizens committed to peace throughout their lives. From a theoretical and documentary perspective, it examines strategies that focus on the student, emphasizing their potential to generate meaningful, participatory, and inclusive learning. Our argument is that active learning methodologies offer a transformative alternative to the educational process, as they foster the integrated development of cognitive, socio-emotional, and ethical competencies. Furthermore, they enhance and promote the development of critical thinking, empathy, and conflict resolution, while also redefining the role of the teacher and moving beyond traditional teaching focused on content transmission. However, its implementation depends on certain structural conditions such as teacher training, curriculum integration, the pedagogical use of technology, and institutional support. In conclusion, active learning methodologies represent an interesting pedagogical strategy for contributing to the development of a culture of peace in classrooms, provided they are integrated critically, contextually, and in accordance with the principles of human rights education.
