random peritoneal biopsies, infracolic omentectomy, appendectomy and peritoneal cytology.Intraoperative frozen-section examination revealed a malignant neoplasm with dual morphology: a myxoid component with epithelioid and spindle cells and a glandular component with mucus-secreting epithelial cells.Final histopathological examination showed an anaplastic carcinoma arising in a borderline epithelial M üllerian (mixed) tumor of the left ovary originating from endometriosis (FIGO stage IC2).The patient was considered eligible for completion surgery and subsequent standard chemotherapy.
