SOCIODEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS OF WOMEN SUFFERING FROM PRE-ECLAMPSIA IN NIGERIA

The article aims to investigate the sociodemographic risk aspects associated with preeclampsia in Funtua Government at Katsina, Nigeria. Preeclampsia is severe pregnancy-related ailment that can lead to maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. The study utilized a case-control design, with 100 cases of preeclampsia and 100 controls without preeclampsia. Numerous sociodemographic variables were deliberated, comprising BMI, medical history, socioeconomic status, age, parity, and lifestyle factors. The analysis discovered important associations between preeclampsia and aspects such as high BMI, rural residence, chronic hypertension, diabetes, renal disease early age at menarche, family history of hypertension, and numerous pregnancies. These findings highlight the significance of recognizing at-risk pregnant women and offering suitable intrapartum and antenatal care. The likelihood a woman dying from inevitable obstacles during pregnancy and childbirth has deteriorated considerably in developed countries. Still, the menace staying unacceptably high in developing countries. Here, these two have continued to symbolize sorrow and tragedy in numerous families. illustration, a woman is more than 200 times per pregnancy and childbirth expected to die than that from countries. Currently, preceding studies indicate information concerning socio cultural factors that back to maternal mortality here.
