Underlying RT-qPCR data for circulating miRNAs in COVID-19-related respiratory failure

This dataset contains the underlying targeted quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR) data used in the study “Circulating miR-126-3p, miR-766-3p, and miR-887-3p show reduced expression in COVID-19-related respiratory failure but do not distinguish severe from critical illness.”The dataset comprises de-identified platelet-poor plasma measurements from 183 participants: 41 healthy controls, 60 patients with severe COVID-19, and 82 patients with critical COVID-19.Six candidate miRNAs were assessed: miR-126-3p, miR-146a-3p, miR-181b-3p, miR-766-3p, miR-887-3p, and miR-5571-5p. miR-93-5p was used as the endogenous reference miRNA.Each qPCR measurement was performed in duplicate. The dataset contains the mean Ct values derived from the duplicate technical measurements. Individual technical-replicate Ct values are not available. ΔCt was calculated as Ct(target miRNA) − Ct(miR-93-5p); consequently, higher ΔCt values indicate lower relative target-miRNA expression.The repository dataset contains newly generated anonymous sample identifiers and does not contain original laboratory identifiers, participant names, hospital identifiers, exact dates, or other directly identifying information.The accompanying README file describes the dataset, normalization procedure, missing-value convention and de-identification, while the data dictionary defines each variable contained in the dataset.
