Human Footprint Maps at 30 m Spatial Resolution for the Koshi River Basin, 1990–2025

This dataset provides human footprint (HF) maps at 30 m spatial resolution for the Koshi River Basin (KRB) at five-year intervals from 1990 to 2025: 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025. The maps were developed by integrating 12 human pressure layers representing major anthropogenic influences on the landscape: irrigated agriculture, rain-fed agriculture, primary roads, secondary roads, grazing intensity, human settlements, hydropower infrastructure, population density, crop abandonment, nighttime lights, forest loss, and mining. These layers were combined to characterize the spatial distribution and temporal changes in human pressure across the KRB. The resulting human footprint maps are classified into four categories: * Wilderness: HF ≤ 1* Low Human Footprint: 1 < HF ≤ 4* Medium Human Footprint: 4 < HF ≤ 20* High Human Footprint: HF > 20 The 30 m spatial resolution and multi-temporal coverage enable detailed assessment of changes in human influence over a 35-year period.
