This repository contains the data and R code supporting the analyses presented in: Gloor, R. et al. 2026. Integrating local habitat structure and landscape heterogeneity is essential to conserve multitaxonomic biodiversity in European primary forests, Journal of Applied Ecology The study investigates the relationships between local habitat structure, surrounding landscape heterogeneity and the diversity of multiple taxonomic groups across European primary forests. The analyses examine species richness and the occurrence of threatened species across lichens, fungi, saproxylic beetles and birds in beech- and spruce-dominated primary forests. Repository contents The repository contains: Data used in the statistical analyses, including biodiversity response variables, local forest structural variables, landscape-scale predictors and environmental covariates. R scripts used for data preparation, statistical modelling, variation partitioning, and the production of figures and tables presented in the manuscript and Supporting Information. Derived datasets and supporting files, where required to reproduce the analyses. A description of the analytical workflow and relevant variable definitions (README.txt) The archived materials are sufficient to reproduce the analyses and results reported in the associated publication. Code and reproducibility The R scripts represent the versions used to generate the analyses and figures reported in the manuscript and were last updated on 21.07.2026. The analyses were conducted using the R environment and package versions available at the time of analysis.
