Training and qualification model in outdoor sports: a proposal for convergence in Portuguese higher education
Résumé fourni par la source
In Portugal, the outdoor sports sector still lacks both a regulatory framework for professions and training standards that are properly aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). This was followed by a brief review of the literature, based on studies carried out over the last two decades. The aim of this study is to present a Training and Qualification Model for Outdoor Sports as a national convergence proposal, articulating the education system (higher education institutions), the sports system (sports federations), and the Portuguese State (through the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth – PISY).The methodology employed was based on qualitative analysis, using document analysis, focus groups and an expert panel as research methods. The main findings made it possible to identify a framework comprising seven points, which were described and developed to underpin the training and qualification model for outdoor sports: (i) Framework; (ii) Ideology, principles and values; (iii) Organization of the training and qualification model; (iv) Resources and implementation conditions; (v) Training strategies and methodologies; (vi) Certification, equivalences and recognition of prior learning; and (vii) Continuing professional development. This training model, in general terms, will be common to various outdoor sports, whilst taking into account the specific characteristics of each context.
