AI and interculturality within/for teacher education
Le résumé fourni par la source
This chapter examines the critical intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and interculturality in teacher education/training. Moving beyond common narratives that position AI as either a ‘saviour’ or ‘villain’, we propose a reflexive framework where educators engage with AI to challenge (their own) ideological assumptions about interculturality. Through analysis of teacher perspectives and dialogic AI interactions, we demonstrate how sustained critical and reflexive engagement can reveal biases in both technology and our own thinking. We argue that developing critical intercultural AI literacy (i.e. focusing on ideological awareness rather than technical mastery) prepares educators to examine, analyse and deal with complex intercultural landscapes. The chapter offers actionable strategies towards this literacy, positioning teachers as critical co-thinkers in developing ethically-grounded and interculturally sustainable AI practices for their classrooms.
