This repository contains the data and code of the publication "Long-Term Functional Shifts in Macaronesian Island Vegetation Following Human Arrival" by Gaiser et al. 2026. published in Proceedings B of the Royal Society (DOI: 10.1098/rspb). The central analysis of the study was to reconstruct the functional composition of island vegetation by combining fossil pollen data with plant functional trait information. Further, variance in functional composition and similarity were reconstructed from trait spaces across different spatial and temporal scales connected to human colonisation.
