Eustigmaeus kauaiensis Swift, Gerson & Goff, 1985 Fig. 7 Eustigmaeus kauaiensis Swift, Gerson & Goff, 1985: 375, figs 1–4. Material examined Holotype USA – Hawaii • ♀; Kaua’i, Kapaa; 26 Sep. 1980; M.L. Coff leg.; moss on hau tree (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.); 1 m above ground; BPBM 13,430. Supplementary redescription IDIOSOMAL DORSUM (Fig. 7). Dorsal dimples oval or nearly round; minute with ill-defined edges in central areas of shields; enlarged and irregularly shaped on anterior part of prodorsum, remaining dimples slightly enlarged toward idiosomal margin. Distances between dimples greater than their diameters. LEGS. Counts of setae on tarsi I–IV: 13 + 1 ω, 9 + 1 ω, 7 + 1 ω, 7 + 1 ω. Distribution Known from Kauai Island, Hawaii, USA, and Guizhou, Jiangxi, Hainan, and Hubei provinces in China (Swift et al. 1985; Fan 2002). Remarks Although the original description of E. kauaiensis stated that its dorsal dimples were “prominent, oval or nearly round, distances between dimples greater than their diameters, small in central areas of propodosoma and hysterosoma”, the illustration did not clearly depict this character (Swift et al. 1985). Re-examination of the holotype revealed that the dimples on the hysterosomal shield are minute relative to those of E. specialis sp. nov. (Fig. 7). In addition, the number of setae on tarsus IV is eight (including solenidion ω), not seven as originally reported (Swift et al. 1985), and is amended here. The remaining features of the original description are coincident with those of the holotype.
