PROSTITUTION IN BIÉ PROVINCE, ANGOLA: ASSOCIATED FACTORS, SOCIAL IMPACTS, AND PERSPECTIVES ON COMMUNITY INTERVENTION

Prostitution is a complex social phenomenon influenced by economic, social, cultural, and structural factors that generate different forms of vulnerability. In the Province of Bié, Angola, this phenomenon is associated with poverty, unemployment, low educational attainment, gender inequalities, and the fragility of social protection policies. This study aimed to analyze the factors associated with prostitution in the Province of Bié, discussing its social impacts and the perspectives for community-based intervention. This is a bibliographic study with a qualitative and descriptive approach, developed through the analysis of scientific publications and documents related to the topic. The literature showed that prostitution results from the interaction of multiple social and economic factors, affecting health, family relationships, social inclusion, and community development. It is concluded that addressing this phenomenon requires integrated actions involving public policies, education, healthcare, social assistance, employment and income generation, and community participation, with the aim of reducing social vulnerabilities, promoting human rights, and strengthening social inclusion.
