Climate change and environmental circulation of enteroparasites in the Pantanal: eco-epidemiological mechanisms and implications for traditional communities

A scoping review protocol featuring a prospective critical synthesis, designed to map the mechanisms by which temperature, precipitation, humidity, droughts, floods, changes in hydrological pulses, and associated fires can modify the development, survival, persistence, transport, and exposure to environmental forms of enteric parasites. The review will be organized into two analytically distinct layers: (1) mechanistic and epidemiological evidence regarding climate, hydrology, and enteric parasites, from any region where findings are transferable; and (2) contextual evidence regarding the Pantanal and the Upper Paraguay Basin, covering hydroclimate, territory, water, sanitation, health, and traditional communities. Integration will be achieved through a mechanism matrix and an explicit classification of the strength, direction, and transferability of the evidence. The review will not generate original prevalence projections for 2050/2100, nor will it treat biological plausibility, seasonality, or environmental detection as automatic proof of causality or zoonosis.
