On Generating Text: Editorial Guidance on Generative and Agentic AI for Authors and Reviewers

Let me be clear: generating text is not the same as writing research.It is beside the point whether a text is generated by or with an AI-powered tool.Why? Research is conducted by researchers and written by the authors who are those researchers.A research task can be performed by a researcher using technology, no matter how sophisticated, it is still performed by a researcher.With the rise of generative AI 1 , I have seen several instances of interesting and, indeed, useful technologies, so I want to write about the journal's position on this.
