ABSTRACT This study shows that the Democratic Republic of the Congo must complement the development of its mineral resources with a genuine strategy to build agricultural strength. Despite its approximately 80 million hectares of arable land and a population largely engaged in agriculture, the country remains heavily dependent on food imports. The DRC–U.S. strategic partnership thus presents an opportunity to develop a modern agro-industry based on local processing, investment, innovation, product certification, and access to the U.S. market. This approach would create jobs, reduce imports, increase exports, and simultaneously strengthen the DRC’s food sovereignty, industrialization, and economic resilience.
