Supporting data for "Long-term individual recurrence and cross-regional connectivity highlight the conservation importance of the Strait of Gibraltar for fin whales"
Résumé fourni par la source
This repository contains supporting data and documentation associated with the manuscript “Long-term individual recurrence and cross-regional connectivity highlight the conservation importance of the Strait of Gibraltar for fin whales.” The deposited materials support the analyses of long-term individual recurrence and cross-regional connectivity of fin whales (Balaenoptera physalus) identified in the Strait of Gibraltar between 2012 and 2025. The repository includes the Strait of Gibraltar fin whale photo-identification catalog, documentation of confirmed cross-regional photo-identification matches, individual detection histories, and the analytical datasets used for cross-catalog comparisons and statistical analyses. Cross-regional data include confirmed matches between the Strait of Gibraltar catalog and independently maintained photo-identification catalogs from the Catalan coast, Cape San Antonio/Nao, and the Algarve. Exact geographic coordinates have been removed from the deposited detection-history datasets because fine-scale locations are not required to reproduce the recurrence and cross-regional connectivity analyses presented in the study. Access to the deposited files is restricted because some materials contain photographic records and associated data contributed by collaborating researchers and organizations. Access requests may be considered by the authors on a case-by-case basis and should include a brief description of the intended use of the materials.
