Zenodo description for supplementary filesRecord-level descriptionThis Zenodo record contains the supplementary files for the manuscript “Suicide Deaths among People Aged 15 to 24 Are 1.9 Times as Many as Cancer Deaths: A Global Census of Registered Deaths and a Systematic Review”. The deposit includes figure files, PRISMA reporting materials, extended methods and results, systematic-review search documentation, screening and adjudication records, full-report assessment files, retrieved full reports, reports not obtained, country-level census results, adversarial-review documentation, and the analysis code used to generate and verify the manuscript outputs. Together, these files support reproducibility and auditability of two linked components of the study: (1) a global census of registered suicide and cancer deaths at ages 15–24 using WHO Mortality Database and Eurostat data, with WHO Global Health Estimates used as a modelled comparison; and (2) a PRISMA 2020 systematic review assessing whether the suicide-to-cancer mortality ratio in young people had previously been reported. The supplementary files are intended to make the data extraction, screening decisions, analysis-set definitions, robustness checks, figure generation and numerical verification transparent to readers and reviewers. File-level descriptionsFile Description02-figures/Figure-1-suicide-against-cancer-ages-15-24.pdf PDF version of Figure 1. Shows the suicide-to-cancer mortality ratio at ages 15–24, the balanced-panel trend from 2005 to 2022, the movement of suicide and cancer death counts, the country-level distribution of ratios, and the sex-specific split in the primary analysis set.02-figures/Figure-1-suicide-against-cancer-ages-15-24.png PNG version of Figure 1 for rapid viewing and reuse in presentation or submission workflows. The figure summarises the main registered-death findings for suicide and cancer deaths at ages 15–24.02-figures/Figure-2-PRISMA-flow.pdf PDF version of the PRISMA 2020 flow diagram for the systematic review component. It documents database searching, supplementary open-database searching, citation chasing, rule-based exclusions, individually assessed records, included studies, retrieved full reports, and reports stating the suicide-to-cancer ratio.02-figures/Figure-2-PRISMA-flow.png PNG version of Figure 2 for rapid viewing and reuse in presentation or submission workflows. The figure visualises the flow of records through the PRISMA 2020 systematic review process.03-supplementary-materials/Table-S1-PRISMA-2020-checklist.docx Completed PRISMA 2020 checklist for the systematic review component of the manuscript. The checklist maps each PRISMA item to the relevant manuscript section or supplementary file and explicitly names departures, partial compliance, or items not applicable to the review.03-supplementary-materials/Table-S2-PRISMA-flow-counts.docx Tabulated counts behind the PRISMA 2020 flow diagram. The file gives the record counts used to build the review flow chart, including database records, duplicates, rule-based exclusions, individually assessed records, citation-chasing records, supplementary-search records, included studies, retrieved reports, and reports in which the ratio was found.03-supplementary-materials/Text-S1-extended-methods-and-results.docx Extended methods and results supplement. This file contains methodological and analytical detail moved out of the main manuscript during shortening, including mortality-data extraction and checks, analysis-set construction, interval methods, systematic-review search and screening details, secondary and robustness analyses, extended limitations, and the stage-by-stage declaration of generative AI use.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S1-search-strategies.zip Search-strategy archive for the systematic review. The archive contains the full search strategies, dated retrieval counts, registry and supplementary-search documentation, and cached raw responses from PubMed, Europe PMC, OpenAlex, Crossref, and related supplementary search routes.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S2-rule-excluded-records.csv Machine-readable list of records excluded by explicit rule before individual adjudication. The file records bibliographic identifiers and the rule applied to each excluded record, supporting auditability of the automated rule-based screening step.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S3-adjudicated-decisions.csv Machine-readable list of records that were individually adjudicated after title-and-abstract assessment. The file gives the inclusion or exclusion decision, study category where applicable, and the written reason for each adjudicated decision.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S4-records-read.csv Machine-readable list of records read on title and abstract during database searching, supplementary open-database searching, and citation chasing. The file supports transparency about the records that passed the initial rule screen and were manually assessed.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S5-full-report-assessment.csv Per-study full-report assessment file. For each included study, it records retrieval status, source, where the review outcome was sought in the report, what was found, and whether the suicide-to-cancer mortality ratio was reported.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S6-retrieved-reports.zip Archive of the full reports that could be retrieved and assessed for the review component. It includes an index and the retrieved report files used to check whether the suicide-to-cancer mortality ratio was stated in the full text, tables, figures, captions, or supplementary material.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S7-analysis-plan.docx Retrospective analysis plan for the census and review components. The file documents the timing of the plan relative to the first analysis, source-data constraints, data-aware decisions, analysis sets, primary and sensitivity analyses, and planned reporting checks.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S8-reports-not-obtained.docx List of included studies whose full reports could not be obtained from free sources. The file identifies these studies, gives available identifiers and notes, and specifies what should be checked if the reports are later retrieved.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S9-country-level-results.csv Country-level census results for registered deaths at ages 15–24. The file includes country, year, income group, region, suicide deaths, cancer deaths, deaths of undetermined intent, all-cause deaths, ill-defined-cause share, exact ratio intervals, ratios including undetermined intent, crude rates where denominators are available, and analysis-set membership.03-supplementary-materials/Data-S10-review-findings-and-responses.docx Adversarial review findings and author responses. The document records the critical, major and minor issues raised during adversarial review of the analysis, citations and manuscript integrity, the verification performed for each issue, and the resulting action or rationale for no change.03-supplementary-materials/Code-S1-analysis-code.zip Analysis-code archive. The archive contains the scripts and derived canonical data used for extraction, analysis, table generation, figure generation, supplementary-material generation and verification, allowing the manuscript’s numerical claims and tables to be regenerated from the source data.
