Le résumé fourni par la source

The eating habits of adolescents are most influenced by family, friends, and social media. Eating habits learned in youth form the foundation for dietary choices in adulthood. The importance of nutrition in promoting well-being and preventing diseases is crucial, but comprehensive information about the nutrition of Finnish youth is limited. This study examined the food consumption of adolescents (aged 11-14) before the covid-19 pandemic in 2017 (n=2835) and after the pandemic in 2022 (n=1500) and the changes that occurred. Additionally, it looked at the impact of adolescents´ attitudes on food choices. The study's data consisted of two cross-sectional surveys of sixth and eighth-grade students from schools participating in surveys in 2017 and 2022. Twenty municipalities across Finland were invited to participate in the studies. The study was conducted using a questionnaire filled out during a lesson. Among eighth-grade boys, vegetable consumption increased in 2022 compared to 2017. The use of plant-based drinks and plant-based fermented products (used like dairy products) increased in all studied groups. The consumption of dairy products decreased in all groups, except eighth-grade boys. The consumption of meat and poultry dishes, sausages, and cold cuts increased among sixth and eighth-grade boys and eighth-grade girls, while the consumption of fish dishes increased among sixth and eighth-grade boys. The use of rye bread had decreased in all groups, while the use of savory pastries had increased in all groups. The connection between attitudes was not clearly visible in the use of milk, meat, or poultry products. However, those who considered it important that the food eaten daily is produced in an environmentally friendly way or with animal welfare in mind consumed more plant proteins compared to those for whom these issues were not as important. Promoting healthy eating habits among adolescents requires regular, nationwide quantitative monitoring of the overall diet of adolescents.
