Le résumé fourni par la source
The CATANA (CAesium iodide array for gamma-ray Transitions in Atomic Nuclei at high isospin Asymmetry) detector, originally developed for γ -ray spectroscopy with radioactive ion beams at the RIKEN Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory, has been upgraded to enable the simultaneous detection of γ -rays and charged particles. The array consists of 140 CsI(Na) scintillation crystals coupled to photomultiplier tubes. In addition to the conventional anode readout used for γ -ray measurements, a secondary low-gain signal is extracted from the second-to-last dynode through a dedicated RC circuit. This extends the dynamic range and enables measurements of protons with kinetic energies up to 250 MeV. The two signals are processed by independent but synchronized data acquisition systems. This paper presents the technical design of the upgraded detector, including the dual-gain readout scheme and data acquisition architecture, and reports performance results from commissioning experiments and the first in-beam measurements.
