Le résumé fourni par la source
The next generation of high-contrast exoplanet imagers will require precise correction of quasistatic, contrast degrading aberrations stemming from non-common optical paths, the low-wind effect, and petaling. I consider how two emerging technologies– photonic lanterns and integrated circuits– may improve the state-of-the-art, yielding benefits in optomechanical stability, sensitivity, and simultaneous integration with other astrophotonic observing techniques. This work is divided into two parts. First, I cover recent experimental work in photonic lantern wavefront sensing, including an on-sky demonstration of a spectrally dispersed implementation on the SCExAO testbed at the 8-m Subaru telescope. Next, I present developments in photonic-circuit-based wave front sensing from the AstroPIC testbed at NASA Ames Research Center. Lastly, I consider the prospects for combining the two techniques, which may be desirable for highly sensitive low-order wavefront sensors.
