A scoping review on snakebite epidemiology in Zambia
Résumé fourni par la source
Snakebite envenoming remains a critical public health issue in Zambia. However, it remains underreported and understudied in this context. This of importance because Zambia is home to the black mamba, among other species of venomous snakes; if left untreated, black mamba bites have a near-100% mortality rate. Many snakebite cases and deaths are not adequately captured by traditional surveillance systems like the District Health Management Information System (DHMIS). It is unknown whether existing literature is able to paint a more accurate picture of snakebite epidemiology in Zambia. We aim to conduct a scoping review of current literature on snakebite epidemiology in Zambia.
