A new major release that is scientifically equivalent to IFS Cycle 50r1. Scientific updates Parameter externalisation and code restructuring: Global (1D) parameters can now be provided from namelists, and spatial (2D) parameters can be provided through an external input file. Land-ice scheme: Added a new scheme for simulating resolved and sub-grid (fractional) glaciers and ice sheets over a grid point (see https://egusphere.copernicus.org/preprints/2025/egusphere-2025-2454/). Snow over sea ice: Introduced a snow-over-sea-ice module, currently active only in coupled mode with IFS (LESNICE namelist option). Biogenic VOC emission module: Added a Biogenic Volatile Organic Compound emission scheme, turned off by default (LBVOC_EMIS namelist option). Implementation of new Multi-Layer soil discretisation: Passive implementation of new soil layers discretisation (NCSS= 9 and 10) in surface standalone and coupled forecast modes with option to choose the number of layers for soil moisture (NCWS) Cama-Flood updated to v4.24: Cama-flood code updated to v4.24 (https://github.com/global-hydrodynamics/CaMa-Flood_v4/tree/v4.24), including minor changes and improvements related to the ecLand implementation.
