Challenges and Prospects of Smart Wearables for Energy Harvesting and Energy Storage
Le résumé fourni par la source
Smart wearables are becoming a day-to-day life companion for many of us as modern technologies are advancing with every day that passes by. Fitness evaluations, health monitoring, disease diagnosis, and the treatment of many illnesses and disorders are all made possible by wearable technology. These gadgets must be with us all day for several months to years as their features and use grow. They must be fueled up for these reasons to carry out their intended tasks. Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have been the standard power source for smart gadgets for a long time. However, in order for wearables to effectively perform their intended functions and harvest and manage energy effectively, these power devices had to be improved as well. Several contemporary innovations, such as biofuel cells, solar cells, thermoelectric generators, hybrid devices, and energy-storage technologies such as zinc-ion batteries, LIBs, and supercapacitors, are making their way to the smart electronics energy solutions, but many of these technologies are still in their developing phases and need a good amount of run before they can effectively accompany wearables in their journey to assist in critical applications such as health monitoring or treatments. This chapter has discussed the current challenges and prospects related to energy harvesting and storage to be used for wearable technology.
