The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Maritime Decarbonisation
Résumé fourni par la source
This note explores the potential role for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in maritime decarbonisation. It draws on research by the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub as well as the wider literature. Please note that due to the rapid response this should not be seen as exhaustive but more indicative of where AI is currently being used and potential future role in maritime decarbonisation. While AI is not a decarbonisation technology, it is a cross-cutting enabling technology in improving the efficiency, performance and management of low-carbon maritime systems. Areas where AI have been adopted include the following areas: Fuel and electric power propulsion Voyage optimisation Energy management Predictive maintenance and digital twins Port and logistics optimisation Vessel design and autonomous shipping In all applications the focus is on reducing fuel consumption, improving operational efficiency and supporting more effective decision making.
