Integrating Communication Flows for Performance: A Conceptual Framework for Teaching Hospitals
Résumé fourni par la source
Research purpose: The objective of this paper is to close a gap in the theoretical fragmentation of healthcare by providing a new synthesized conceptualization of the role of communication strategies in influencing performance in teaching hospitals. Research design/methodology/approach: The three-part model is formed by integrating Cybernetics Theory, Goal-Oriented Communication Theory and Participatory Communication Theory and linked with horizontal, vertical and diagonal communication flows through a theory synthesis approach. Design/methodology/approach: It is a three-part model that integrates Cybernetics Theory, Goal-Oriented Communication Theory and Participatory Communication Theory and connects these theories through a theory synthesis approach. The results of the proposed Integrated Tripartite Framework are the outcome of the combination of three ideas: (1) goal-oriented alignment, (2) cybernetic feedback loops and (3) participatory design. The interdependency of the outcomes of these components is explained, and four important propositions (P1-P4) are developed. The proposed Integrated Tripartite Framework suggests that performance outcomes of the combination of three ideas: (1) goal-oriented alignment, (2) cybernetic feedback loops, and (3) participatory design. The development of four important propositions (P1-P4) is obtained by explaining the interdependent relationships between the results of these components. Limitations/Implications of the Study: The theoretical paper has a clear purpose: scale development and proposition testing. The framework will enable administrators to audit communication systems in an organized and structured manner and to develop specific solutions with a focus on responsiveness, inclusivity and strategic clarity. Originality/Value: This study will eliminate conflicts identified in the literature by merging those three theories into a single model of healthcare communication, and it will be one of the most comprehensive and beneficial models for academics and practitioners.
