This paper quantitatively evaluates a pulse-voltage-injected two-phase modulation scheme incorporating a third-harmonic zero-sequence voltage (P2T-PWM) for constant-voltage constant-frequency (CVCF) inverters and clarifies its impact on LC filter design under carrier-frequency conditions selected to match the experimentally measured conversion efficiencies. The proposed scheme preserves the low switching-loss characteristic of conventional reference-shift-based discontinuous two-phase PWM (D2-PWM) while suppressing carrier-frequency spectral dispersion inherent to D2-PWM. A three-phase voltage-fed inverter prototype is employed to compare P2T-PWM with centered-pulse carrier-based three-phase PWM (C3-PWM) and D2-PWM. Experimental results demonstrate that, under the matched-efficiency carrier-frequency conditions, P2T-PWM achieves the lowest load-side line-to-line voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) among the three schemes. LC filter design analysis further indicates that, under a THD constraint of 2%, P2T-PWM provides a wider and more continuous feasible LC filter design region than those of C3-PWM and D2-PWM, enabling a reduction in the required inductance under the same capacitance condition without efficiency degradation. These findings establish that, under matched-efficiency carrier-frequency conditions, P2T-PWM expands the feasible LC filter design space while maintaining low switching loss.
