RePo-SUDOE – Advances on the transnational network for drug repurposing in the SUDOE space
Résumé fourni par la source
The RePo-SUDOE project is boosting drug repurposing in the SUDOE space by bringing together diverse partners from this European region [1]. RePo-SUDOE is developing and disseminating, both computational and experimental drug repurposing tools and technologies, to advance drug repurposing applications and enhance the region's competitiveness in this scientific field [2]. This talk will present the latest advances of the RePo-SUDOE project, highlighting the outcomes of its multidisciplinary and transnational collaboration in developing innovative drug repurposing applications across the SUDOE space. The focus will be placed on describing methodologies for drug repurposing applied to diverse disease targets, including to cancer and antimicrobial resistance. Key explored activity mechanisms include direct drug-protein interactions and the inhibition of protein-protein interactions by certain drugs. The talk will also illustrate how the project has been raising awareness and understanding of drug repurposing technologies within the SUDOE space and beyond. In addition, the latest developments of a prototype of an immersive 3D visualization room of biological systems will be presented, showing how it can be used to engage STEM students and researchers in drug repurposing by exploring drug-target interactions in immersive learning. Overall, the talk discloses how the diverse partners from RePo-SUDOE collaborate to develop drug repurposing applications, to make scientific information more accessible and use advanced visualization technologies to highlight the potential of drug repurposing.
