Interpretation of kidney outcomes during combined SGLT2 inhibitor and GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy
Résumé fourni par la source
In their Article published in The Lancet Primary Care, Thijs T Jansz and colleagues1 reported lower risk of a composite outcome of kidney disease progression (≥40% estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] decline, end-stage kidney disease, or death from kidney-related causes) after initiating GLP-1 receptor agonist treatment in individuals with type 2 diabetes already receiving SGLT2 inhibitor treatment compared with that observed after initiating either DPP-4 inhibitors or sulfonylureas. The findings were consistent across the continuum of kidney disease and therefore interpreted as supporting combined SGLT2 inhibitor and GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy for kidney protection.
