An experiment with the goal to study excited states in 100Zr was performed at the TRIUMF-ISAC facility. A radioactive ion beam of 100Rb and 100Sr was used and the subsequent decays were observed with the GRIFFIN γ-ray spectrometer. The resulting data contained γ rays originating from the β decay of 100Rb through 100Nb leading to very complex spectra with many unresolved γ-ray peaks. Through the use of γ-γ coincidence data with conditions on the time of the events after beam implantation, the contributions to γ-ray multiplets can be ascertained and γ-ray transitions assigned to their parent nuclei. The example of the γ-ray doublet at 1607 keV is highlighted with its contributions from decays of excited states in 100Zr and 100Mo.
