Cognitive reflection and fluid intelligence in egyptian young adults: The mediating role of Adele Diamond’s Core Executive functions skills
Résumé fourni par la source
The main purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between fluid intelligence and cognitive reflection and the possible mediating mechanisms in this relationship. This study employs a quantitative, non-experimental design using a relational screening model to examine naturally occurring associations between variables. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 230 healthy university adults, 110 women and 120 men, with an average age of 21.16 (SD = 1.60, age range 20-23). First, it was observed that there is a positive relationship between fluid intelligence and cognitive reflection, meaning that as fluid intelligence increases, cognitive reflection performance increases. it was determined that there are statistically significant direct relationships between fluid intelligence and the mediating variables, namely shifting, planning and problem-solving, and working memory. Therefore, the independent variable significantly predicts all mediating variables.
