Potential Wound Healing Activity of Methanolic Root Extract of Stachytarpheta jamaicensis Ointment in Male Swiss Albino Mice

This study were investigated the effectiveness of S. jamaicensis root for wound healing. Despite the plant’s historical use in traditional medicine practice, scientific evidence were limited, particularly concerning the root. To address this, the researchers evaluated the methanolic root extract's efficacy in promoting wound closure and tissue regeneration in an animal model. The extract, prepared by macerating dried root using methanol, were applied topically to excised wounds in male albino mice. Results were compared to a positive control, Povidone Iodine, and a negative control, Base formulation. Among all comparisons, only the difference between the Negative Control and the 10% concentration was found to be statistically significant with a p-value of 0.0436, which is less than the 0.05 significance level. The result of the phytochemical of flavanoids, terpenoids, phenols, tannins was positive and the 10% concentration of every group was received the significant difference in the p value of 0.05 with the p value 0.0436
