Genomic and resistome investigation of zoonotic bacteria from wild bird faeces and frequented water bodies in Gauteng, South Africa, during the migratory season

These datasets supplement the thesis titled: One Health approach investigating the genome and resistome of zoonotic bacteria isolated from faeces and water bodies frequented by wild birds during the migratory season in Gauteng. The thesis focused on the investigation of Staphylococcaceae, enterococci, enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC), Shiga-Toxin producing E. coli (STEC) and Salmonella enterica (S. enterica) from wild bird faeces. Prevalence and whole-genome sequencing data of isolated Staphylococcaceae and enterococci is provided in the datasets. There was no isolation of EPEC, STEC and S. enterica in wild bird faeces. Shotgun metagenomic data, including taxonomy and the resistome of genomes recovered from water samples collected from two water bodies frequented by wild birds is also included in this dataset.
