Résumé fourni par la source

The current research investigated the prevalence and predictors of phubbing among a sample of Ghanaian university students. Using a cross-sectional design, we randomly selected 850 undergraduate university students with a mean age of 21.87 years from a Ghanaian public university in Ghana. Validated questionnaires were used to collect data. Data analysis was conducted using frequencies, percentages and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). We found that the prevalence of phubbing among Ghanaian university students was 22.11%. The results also demonstrated that Fear of missing out, Tiktok addiction, Snapchat addiction, and WhatsApp addiction predicted phubbing positively. In contrast, mindfulness predicted phubbing negatively among the students. Our findings suggest that mindfulness-based interventions and emotion-focused coping strategies may help university students in preventing and dealing with phubbing.
